I’d watched some interviews and promo content prior to reading the book so I wasn’t surprised by the genre-bending but the way it was executed was just *chef’s kiss* and it makes it even easier to recommend this book to everyone who will listen because the blend of genres and tropes make me feel like there is something in this story for everyone. This was her life, this was her city, these were her people, and because she loved them, she had sworn to herself a long time ago that she would do a damn good job of being who she was because she could be no one else.



This was a book I needed to take my time with and just enjoy living in this world that Chloe Gong so beautifully created. This book was one of my most anticipated 2020 releases and I’m so glad it lived up to the hype!
